DSSELDORF, Germany —XMPiecustomers are finding new ways through variable data print and cross-media personalization to make themselves and their customers more successful by increasing business and generating more revenue.
Many of XMPie's European customers have incorporated the company's PersonallEffectTMcross-media software that produces personalized communications spanning print, e-mail and Web.As part of drupa 2008, XMPie is showcasing success stories from three of these leading customers — FRAM, Impress and DATEN_PARTNER.
FRAM
A travel agency founded in 1949, FRAM currently serves 550,000 customers through its 60 agencies and 143 embassies throughout France. Realizing communications with its customers needed to change in order to increase effectiveness, cut costs and reduce calls to the call center, FRAM decided to streamline its communications from large travel packets to one document containing all the information travelers need for their vacations. FRAM began using XMPie PersonalEffect, which employs Adobetools such as In Design, Photoshopand Illustrator, to create more concise "Travel Booklets."
With XMPie's open architecture, FRAM developed a fully-automated variable workflow process and is creating 350,000 customized Travel Booklets per year for its customers, many of whom have said this is a valuable resource and a great souvenir of their vacations. The Travel Booklets contain 700 variable elements and featurepersonalized information that is most relevant to customers regarding their holidays, including their flight itineraries, vouchers and accommodation details, as well as vaccine, currency and visa information. In addition, FRAM creates personalized luggage labels printed on tear-free paper that can be easily peeled off for use. For FRAM, the Travel Booklets have reduced warehouse and shipping costs, and opened additional revenue opportunities through advertising space.
Impress
Impress, a direct mail services company located in the Netherlands, is in the midst of changing its business from a traditional direct mail and print provider into a marketing services and communications provider. The company serves many Dutch financial institutions, retailers and publishers. Impress entered high-volume color printing by purchasing a XeroxiGen3Digital Production Press in 2005, which was complemented by the purchase of XMPie's flagship product, PersonalEffect Site Edition. The increased page volume driven by XMPie PersonalEffect drove the installation of Impress' second iGen3 in 2007.
The company has since successfully created campaigns such as the Adobe Benelux Trial DVD fulfillment solution developed for the launch of Adobe CS3 in the Netherlands. The campaign consisted of highly personalized e-mails, response Web pages with real-time tracking, letters with ordering-vouchers, data-entry of incoming orders and product fulfillment, which resulted in an average of a 35 percent churn from prospect to sale.
Impress implemented another campaign for a large financial institution which included the creation of personalized letters, requiring no human intervention from database programming to distribution. The workflow was fully automated through XMPie's Web Services Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The APIs seamlessly integrated the workflow with the financial institution's database, allowing bank employees to submit jobs through the Web that were then automatically sent to an XMPie server for processing and then converted to IJPDS. Once converted, the jobs were printed on a highlight color device.
"Implementing XMPie for most of our print advertisements and all our multi-channel offerings has greatly reduced the amount of human intervention necessary to get jobs done," said Peter Kruijt, operations manager, Impress. "In the coming months, Impress plans to add new campaign management features to further strengthen our commitment toward our customers by providing them real-time information about the effectiveness of their multi-channel communications."
DATEN_PARTNER
DATEN_PARTNER was founded in Dsseldorf in 1980 and has since transitioned from a classic letter shop to one of the leading direct marketing specialists in Germany. Since 2005, the company has used XMPie PersonalEffect to offer clients individualized direct-marketing solutions. DATEN_PARTNER recently used PersonalEffect to produce customer retention mailings for its client, The Phone House GmbH.The mailings included personal landing pages featuring mobile phone shopping preferences for each recipient. With XMPie-enabled solutions, DATEN_PARTNER was able to distribute these personalized mailings within five days of receiving data and are now producing 30,000 to 50,000 mailers per month and have achieved a 30 percent renewal rate for mobile contracts.
"The market for high-value personalization is becoming increasingly important to print providers and businesses as they look for new ways to reach their customers while reducing costs and increasing revenue, said Karin Stroh, vice president of marketing, XMPie, Inc. "Through XMPie's scalable, modular and measurable variable data and cross-media solutions, companies are embracing the integration of media and marketing, transforming the way they communicate to their customers."
