Breukelen – Xerox has further enhanced its position in the graphics wide format market by offering a new range of Epson colour printers. Customers will benefit from the quality and reliability they would expect from Epson combined with the expertise and support of Xerox. The new range consists of four printers, the Xerox/Epson Stylus Pro 7450, 7880, 9450 and 9880, which are specifically designed for high quality indoor graphics applications such as proofing and point of sale material, where cost effective quality printing is of paramount importance.

“This expansion of our wide-format portfolio allows us to offer the best solution for our customers enabling them to address the highest quality graphic applications,” said Mireille Paasen, PSG Director Xerox Netherlands. “This is strong evidence of our continuing commitment to grow our wide format range in areas requested by our customers

The new range of printers offers customers a variety of choices. The Stylus Pro 7450 and 7880 offer 24” printing width with either 4 or 8 colour ink sets respectively. The Stylus Pro 9450 and 9880 offer the same choice of ink sets at 44” printing width. The four colour ink set with the 7450 and 9450 offer faster print and cutting speeds with 440ml high-capacity ink cartridges for each colour.

The Stylus Pro 7880 and 9880 use the latest Epson UltraChrome™ K3 Ink with Vivid Magenta which further expands the colour gamut. The new magenta ink uses new high-density pigments that create more vibrant colour, especially blues and magenta, in addition to maintaining great colour accuracy of neutral and dark colours, excellent short-term colour stability and smooth tonal gradation from shadow to light.

The print heads in the new range of machines employ Epson’s Micro Piezo™ technology, which controls the amount of ink delivered to the media with precision, resulting in finely detailed images. Each colour has a double nozzle to give faster throughput and print speed. Epson’s Variable-sized Droplet Technology automatically adjusts the size of the ink droplet depending on the image content; smaller droplets are used where fine detail is required and bigger droplets where larger blocks of colour are needed. In addition the Micro Piezo™ ink jet head is permanent, so does not require periodic replacement, thus improving reliability and driving down running costs.
